DeVaré (Di-vaa-rae) hails from the parish of St. Thomas on the beautiful island of Jamaica. The multi-talented singer/songwriter has been singing and performing to intimate audiences between Jamaica and the U.S. for the past ten years. His penchant for love ballads is what motivates him to write songs that celebrate the love of a woman from the man’s perspective; DeVaré tends to write songs appreciative of that bond between a man and a woman even when that love and that bond sometimes go awry. DeVaré often states that he “doesn’t go looking for a song to write, the song comes to him.” Consequently, there are times when motivational songs pop up on his radar.
Even though DeVaré now resides in the U.S., he spends as much time as he can in his native homeland, Jamaica, as a way of staying connected to his roots, musically and otherwise. His musical influence spans many genres, ranging from the King of Lover’s Rock, Beres Hammond, and reggae greats, Alton Ellis, Gregory Isaacs, Delroy Wilson, and Dennis Brown. His R&B influencers include but are not limited to the all-time greats he grew up listening to like Sam Cook, Otis Redding, Bobby Womack, Brook Benton, and James Brown.
His style is deeply rooted in classic R&B. DeVaré’s songs are inspired by his life long observation of people, especially lovers. He does not find natural inspiration in social commentary and as such does use his platform for that purpose. His debut single, ‘This Ya love Is Here To Stay,’ enjoyed tremendous airplay in Jamaica, South Florida, as well as rotations in Europe. He is now looking ahead to introducing his EP to his U.S. fans. His most recent album, “Reflections” is available on all major music platforms.
